A bit about the area...
Welcome to the community of Burnt Cove — St Michael’s — Bauline East located on the Irish Loop. Located roughly 50kms south of the capital city of St. John’s, we are part of the greater Witless Bay area: home to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve and the largest Puffin Colony in North America.
“Whittle’s Bay” was named for Captain Whittle — one of the original European inhabitants of the area, who brought his family here from Dorset, England. When Captain Whittle died, his widow and family returned to England. The town then became known as “Whittles-less Bay,” eventually becoming today’s Witless Bay.
Just open the door and step outside to start exploring and enjoying the surrounding nature and activities available to you. Or curl up with a blanket and a warm cuppa and watch for whales from the comfort of the indoors. There’s no wrong way to enjoy your stay!
